Unit 1 & Unit 2 - Principles of Performance and Principles of Production

                                                  IDENTITY Principles of Performance In our first unit we have been working on a piece based around our identity. we are hoping to bring all the different pieces together to form one great show we can perform for the rest of our peers. In groups or individually, we created a piece of drama or speech that reflected ourselves and our own identities. some students really  opened up about their personal lives and experiences, this was good because first of all, we really got to understand the struggles some our peers face whilst also realizing we aren't all that different and can probably relate to each other far more then we realised. also, it was good because it helped us feel comfortable with being vulnerable on stage, sometimes it can be really difficult or nerve-racking performing in front of pe...

Unit 3 & Unit 4 Silent Movie & Clash of the concerts

As an introduction to this unit, the class looked at a play called " Th Dumb Waiter " by Harold Pinter. This is a one act play about two hit men - Ben and Gus who are passing the time in a little room whilst they await their next job. There is a clear higher and lower status dynamic between the two characters -  Ben having the higher status. In class, we paired up to create a piece exploring status between characters further, The only direction given was that we would be two decorators doing a job whilst something "went wrong", there must be a clear hierarchy between the two characters and It must be performed silently.  we used mime techniques and body language to convey the status difference between them - the high status character used bold and powerful movements to express his superiority and the low status character moved timidly with smaller expressions and jumpy reactions to the high status character.  As actors  there are...
